Setting Up a New Class Mailing List on ASW

Autogenerated Class lists can be used for emailing students or instructors, and for security access control that may be required for the course.

Note that you will need to know your course and section number(s) to use this generated class list.

  1. Log on to ASW. You will need to use your ISU Net ID and password.
  2. Click the "Manage Lists" link on the main menu. This will take you to an new page.
  3. Click the "Manage Class List" link. This will take you to the Class Mailing list page.
  4. Choose the class for which you would like to create the list and click the Create Selected Classlist(s) button. You may choose more than one with the key.

All premade class lists are in the format: year.department.course.section@iastate.edu.

Key Description
year f (fall) or s (spring) and the year (e.g. s2014 for Spring 2014)
department com_s
course The 3 digit course number
section The 2 digit section number

So, the final email address will be similar to s2014.com_s.100.01@iastate.edu.
